About the role
The Health Specialist will support the development, implementation and monitoring of health programmes in Zanzibar, focusing on areas such as gender, maternal, neonatal and child survival. Reporting to the Chief of the Zanzibar Office and receiving technical guidance from the Chief of Health Section, the role ensures results are delivered in line with UNICEF’s strategic plans and results‑based management approach.
Key responsibilities
- Support programme development, planning and preparation of health initiatives.
- Manage, implement, monitor, evaluate and report on programme progress for assigned health sectors.
- Provide technical guidance and management support throughout the programming cycle.
- Build networks and partnerships to enhance programme impact.
Required profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Health, Nutrition, Global Health, Health Policy or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in public health planning, maternal and neonatal health, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of another UN language is a plus.
