Senior Regional Technical Officer, Supply Chain

About the role

The Senior Regional Technical Officer (SRTO) will provide hands‑on technical leadership, mentorship and systems support to strengthen supply chain management and pharmaceutical services at the regional level in Mbeya, Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and day‑to‑day support on commodities management across regional, council and health facilities, including bottom‑up quantification and integration into national supply plans.
• Monitor stock status, analyse inventory trends and coordinate with stakeholders to prevent stock‑outs, minimise expiries and reduce overstocks.
• Strengthen use of eLMIS, DHIS2, GoTHOMIS and related tools for accurate, timely reporting and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff, health‑facility pharmacists and clinicians on stock management, rational use of medicines and pharmacovigilance.
• Support RHMTs, CHMTs, IMPACT Teams and logistic management services to improve data quality, reporting and performance monitoring.

Required profile

• Degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Public Health or related field (master’s preferred).
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in public‑life‑saving commodities supply chain, pharmaceutical management or health‑systems strengthening.
• Demonstrated expertise with eLMIS, DHIS2, GoTHOMIS, BUQ and related tools.
• Experience working with Ministry of Health, USG‑funded projects and other donor‑funded health programmes.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
