Customs Declaration Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a Customs Declaration Supervisor to lead the preparation, submission, and follow‑up of import and export customs declarations. The role ensures compliance with all relevant customs and shipping regulations while coordinating with internal and external logistics partners.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise preparation, submission, and follow‑up of customs declarations for imports and exports.
• Ensure compliance with local and international customs regulations and shipping laws.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal logistics teams.
• Monitor clearance timelines to avoid delays, demurrage, or penalties.
• Review shipping, cargo, and declaration documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and declarations.
• Train, guide, and monitor the performance of declaration clerks or junior staff.
• Resolve customs‑related issues, discrepancies, or regulatory queries efficiently.
• Stay updated on changes in customs, shipping, and logistics regulations.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in customs clearance, import/export operations, or shipping documentation.
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, tariffs, shipping procedures, and declaration processes.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Experience training and mentoring junior staff and coordinating with government authorities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with ASYCUDA customs software.
• Experience with CargoWise shipping software.
