Senior Regional Technical Officer, Supply Chain Zanzibar

About the role

The Senior Regional Technical Officer (SRTO) for Supply Chain will provide hands‑on technical leadership, mentorship and systems support to strengthen supply chain management and pharmaceutical services across Zanzibar and mainland Tanzania. Based at the regional level, the SRTO acts as a technical bridge among ministries, health facilities and implementing partners to ensure life‑saving commodities are managed, monitored and accounted for using Ministry‑approved tools.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day technical expertise on commodity management at regional, council and facility levels, supporting bottom‑up quantification and integration into national supply plans.
• Monitor stock status, analyse inventory trends and coordinate actions to prevent stock‑outs, expiries and overstocks.
• Strengthen use of eLMIS, DHIS2, GoTHOMIS and related tools for accurate, timely reporting and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Mentor health‑facility pharmacists, clinicians and supply‑chain staff on stock management, rational use of medicines, antimicrobial resistance and pharmacovigilance.
• Facilitate data collection, validation, analysis and the production of dashboards, scorecards and performance reports for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in public life‑saving commodities supply chain management, pharmaceutical management or health‑systems strengthening.
• Degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Public Health or related field (master’s preferred).
• Demonstrated experience with e‑LMIS, DHIS2, GoTHOMIS, CTC2 database and related pharmacy modules.
• Proven ability to provide technical assistance, capacity building, mentorship and supportive supervision to health workers and partners.
