Senior Regional Technical Officer – Supply Chain (Zanzibar)

About the role

The Senior Regional Technical Officer (SRTO) for Supply Chain in Zanzibar will provide hands‑on technical leadership, mentorship and systems support to strengthen supply chain management, pharmaceutical services and data use across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and day‑to‑day support on commodities management at regional, council and health‑facility levels, including bottom‑up quantification and integration into national plans.
• Monitor stock status, analyse inventory trends and coordinate actions to prevent stock‑outs, expiries and overstocks.
• Strengthen use of eLMIS, DHIS2, GoTHOMIS and related tools for accurate, timely reporting and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff, health‑facility pharmacists and clinicians on stock management, rational use of medicines, antimicrobial resistance and pharmacovigilance.
• Facilitate collaboration with MSD, TMDA, CMS, ZFDA and the Pharmacy Council to institutionalise best practices.

Required profile

• Degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Public Health or related field (master’s preferred).
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience in public lifesaving commodities supply chain, pharmaceutical management or health‑systems strengthening.
• Proven experience with e‑LMIS, CTC2 Database, Pharmacy Modules DHIS2, BUQ, GoTHOMIS and related tools.
• Experience working with Ministry of Health, USG‑funded projects and other donor‑funded health programmes.
