Senior Program Officer

About the role

The Senior Program Officer (SPO) supports day‑to‑day coordination and implementation of the AFGHS project’s maternal, newborn, child health and malaria components in Tanzania and Zanzibar. The role links the Project Management Team, field leaders, technical teams and government partners to ensure work plans, milestones and results are delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate implementation across MNCH and malaria activities, tracking progress, deliverables and resolving bottlenecks.
• Support government engagement, co‑design, and transition of project functions to local structures.
• Manage operational readiness, including logistics, procurement, supply‑chain, fleet and office support.
• Oversee asset, inventory and stores management, ensuring compliance and documentation.
• Serve as liaison between field teams and cross‑cutting functions (finance, HR, IT, compliance) and follow up on actions.

Required profile

• Experience coordinating large‑scale health projects in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of government health systems, sustainability and transition processes.
• Ability to supervise administrative staff and promote accountability.
