Senior Account Executive

About the role

A reputable pharmaceutical organization, represented by its client, is looking for an experienced Accounts Executive to support day-to-day financial and accounting operations in Dar es Salaam. The role covers accounts payable and receivable, financial records, audits, compliance and budget support.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts, including ledgers, journals and financial statements.
• Process invoices, verify expenses and manage payments to suppliers and vendors.
• Prepare monthly sales reports (distributor stock and sales reconciliation) and monthly profit and loss reports, processed in the ERP system.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer and distributor payments.
• Reconcile bank statements and support monthly, quarterly and annual closings and reporting.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and financial reports, and ensure compliance with tax laws and local regulatory filings.
• Manage inventory accounting with the supply chain team and maintain compliance documentation.
• Use ERP/accounting software for journal entries, receipts, payments, accruals and prepaid expenses; maintain petty cash and employee advances.
• Post bank entries, reconcile the general ledger weekly and circulate reports to the Finance Manager and Country Manager.
• Coordinate with banks on remittances and payments, and prepare payroll and file NSSF, PAYE, SDL, WCF, NHIF and other statutory returns.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical sector.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and Tanzanian tax regulations.
• Local Tanzanians preferred due to the job location.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• ERP usage for transaction processing and data management.
