Regional Technical Officer – PMTCT & Cervical Cancer

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer – Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) provides technical expertise and supports the implementation of PMTCT, HIV‑Exposed Infants, pediatric HIV and cervical cancer services within the EpiC Project in Tanzania. The incumbent works closely with local government, regional health teams and implementing partners to ensure high‑quality, equitable service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of PMTCT and cervical cancer prevention interventions across the region.
• Provide technical guidance to facilities and community teams on triple‑elimination (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B) and cervical cancer screening, treatment and referral.
• Strengthen referral and linkage systems, track client outcomes and minimize loss to follow‑up.
• Monitor key indicators, prepare technical reports, analytical briefs and success stories for stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach regional technical teams and healthcare workers through supervision, on‑the‑job training and performance improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Nursing degree or equivalent health‑related qualification with professional registration.
• Minimum of four years progressive experience in PMTCT, pediatric HIV, MNCH or related HIV programs, preferably donor‑funded.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and collaboration tools (SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams).
• Strong data analysis, reporting and quality‑assurance skills.
• Ability to provide technical mentorship, conduct root‑cause analysis and develop corrective actions.
