Regional Technical Officer – PMTCT & Cervical Cancer

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer – Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) provides technical expertise and supports the implementation of PMTCT, HIV‑Exposed Infants, pediatric HIV and cervical cancer services within the EpiC Project in Tanzania. The role works closely with local government, regional health teams and implementing partners to ensure high‑quality, equitable service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of PMTCT and cervical cancer prevention interventions across the region.
• Provide technical guidance to facilities and community teams on triple elimination of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B, and on cervical cancer screening, treatment and referral.
• Strengthen referral and linkage systems, track client outcomes and minimize loss to follow‑up.
• Monitor key indicators, prepare technical reports, analytical briefs and presentations for stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach regional technical teams and healthcare workers through structured supervision, on‑the‑job training and performance improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with health management teams, partners and communities to coordinate activities and ensure harmonised implementation.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Nursing degree or related health field with professional registration; MPH is an advantage.
• Minimum of four years progressive experience in PMTCT, pediatric HIV, MNCH or related HIV programs, preferably donor‑funded.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzania MOH guidelines, quality assurance and continuous improvement principles.
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to analyse data, identify gaps and develop practical solutions.
• Project management and mentorship experience.
