Regional Technical Officer – Community Engagement (TB) – Mtwara

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer, Community Engagement, provides technical and programmatic oversight for community‑ and facility‑based TB prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and continuity of care across the Mtwara region. The role works closely with CSOs, CHWs, and regional TB coordinators to ensure high‑quality, timely delivery of TB services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for evidence‑based TB strategies, including prevention, case finding, contact tracing, diagnosis and treatment.
• Develop, adapt and disseminate tools, SOPs and materials for community‑based TB interventions.
• Collaborate with regional and district TB coordinators, CSOs and local government to ensure implementation aligns with national guidelines.
• Conduct supportive supervision, mentorship and capacity‑strengthening for CHWs and CSOs.
• Monitor project performance indicators, analyse treatment continuation data and produce actionable reports.
• Track regional implementation plans, identify service delivery gaps and facilitate referrals for presumptive TB cases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, international development or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in community‑based health programming, preferably TB or HIV interventions.
• Demonstrated experience working with NGOs, CSOs, CHWs and government agencies.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.
• Willingness to travel extensively (50‑75% domestic travel).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong analytical and data‑use skills for interpreting program data and preparing reports.
• Experience in supportive supervision, mentorship and capacity‑building.
• Ability to develop technical tools, SOPs and training materials.
