Regional Technical Officer – TB Services

About the role

The Regional Technical Officer, TB provides technical expertise to implement and scale comprehensive TB prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment within the EpiC Project in Tanzania, focusing on integration with HIV services in police and prison health facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to regional teams, health facilities and community platforms for planning, implementation, monitoring and scale‑up of TB interventions.
• Support quality TB screening, active case finding, diagnosis, treatment, TB preventive treatment, DR‑TB management and infection prevention and control in line with national standards.
• Mentor, coach and supervise health workers, conduct on‑the‑job training and clinical case reviews to improve service quality.
• Review TB program data, identify gaps and recommend corrective actions; assist facilities in developing and implementing improvement plans.
• Coordinate TB/HIV collaborative activities, including screening of PLHIV, HIV testing of TB clients, linkage to ART and TPT provision.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD) or nursing degree; a Master’s in Public Health is an advantage.
• Minimum four years of progressive experience in TB and TB/HIV programming, preferably in donor‑funded public health projects.
• Proven experience providing technical assistance to government health authorities and implementing partners.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills; fluency in English and Kiswahili.

Required skills

• TB program management, including prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and DR‑TB.
• TB/HIV collaborative service delivery.
• Data analysis, data quality checks and reporting using routine and digital health information systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
