About the role

The Assistant Relationship Manager supports the Client Relationship Team in delivering banking services, identifying sales opportunities, and managing risk for client portfolios at NBC, Tanzania's longest‑standing bank.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Relationship Managers with sales research, client development, and portfolio risk analysis, including credit risk assessment.
  • Serve as the second point of contact for clients on sales and service matters, handling inquiries and escalating issues as needed.
  • Cross‑sell core banking products to existing clients, ensuring each client receives appropriate solutions and increasing share‑of‑wallet.
  • Liaise with product specialists (Cash Management, Electronic Banking, International Banking, Retail and Institutional Banking) to design comprehensive solutions.
  • Act as the primary contact in the Relationship Manager’s absence, evaluate client needs, and submit credit applications for approval.
  • Manage operational activities and risk‑management processes to provide seamless transactional experiences.
  • Coordinate client introductions across NBC divisions to generate additional revenue.
  • Monitor client satisfaction surveys, recommend corrective actions, and implement service improvements.
  • Identify and maintain a database of potential new clients, supporting portfolio growth.
  • Organise product presentations with Relationship Managers to promote banking solutions.

Required profile

  • Experience in banking or financial services with a focus on client relationship and sales.
  • Strong understanding of credit and portfolio risk management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with product specialists and internal teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and internal coordination.
