Assistant General Manager – 5★ Beach Resort in Zanzibar

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager of Iberostar Selection Zanzibar, a new 5‑star beachfront resort located in Muyuni, Matemwe. The role focuses on ensuring the hotel meets its financial, operational and service quality targets while maintaining brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review service quality and product offerings across all hotel departments.
• Ensure the hotel’s image aligns with brand guidelines and that facilities are properly maintained.
• Provide direct guest service, handling queries, suggestions, complaints and claims.
• Assist in resolving extraordinary situations and union‑related issues.
• Supervise compliance with local legislation, health and safety regulations and corporate CSR policies.
• Accompany the General Manager during inspections by local authorities.
• Monitor staffing levels, distribute staff according to occupancy and budget, and oversee occupational risk prevention.
• Control revenue and expenses to meet the income statement targets.
• Participate in the preparation of the annual budget and support decision‑making with operational data.
• Promote staff engagement, professional development and motivation.

Required profile

• Experience working closely with senior hotel management.
• Proven ability to supervise and motivate hotel staff.
• Strong understanding of hospitality standards, legislation and CSR guidelines.
• Capability to analyse financial results and contribute to budgeting.
