STEM & Computer Science Teacher

About the role

The Tanzania Education Corporation seeks an entrepreneurial technologist to teach STEM and computer science to secondary‑school students in Makuyuni, Tanzania. You will guide learners from basic computer skills to coding and introduce foundational artificial‑intelligence concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Teach computer classes for Forms 1‑3, progressing from typing to Python programming.
• Oversee independent projects and skills training for Forms 4‑5.
• Manage an open computer lab, encouraging student‑driven projects and creativity.
• Assist in administration and maintenance of the school’s computer lab.
• Coach Tanzanian teachers to improve their technology proficiency.
• Integrate artificial‑intelligence fundamentals into the curriculum through lessons and projects.

Required profile

• At least a bachelor’s degree.
• IT proficiency demonstrated through coursework or relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as HTML, JavaScript, Python or others.
• Understanding of artificial‑intelligence applications in computer science.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware for lab maintenance.
• Teaching experience; international experience in Africa is highly desirable.
• Cultural sensitivity and ability to work successfully in a different culture.
