Specialist Trainer, Underground Equipment

About the role

The Specialist Trainer, Underground Equipment will be responsible for training and assessing GGML underground staff on a range of drilling rigs, including the Jumbo (drift drill rig). The role also involves coaching existing operators to reach advanced competency and supporting shift leaders in safe, productive equipment use.

Key responsibilities

• Train and assess employees on Jumbo and other underground drilling equipment.
• Develop existing drill‑rig operators (Jumbo, drift drill, cable bolter, solo/long‑hole, ITH) to achieve advanced operator level.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching to Underground Shift Bosses and Shift Trainers on safety, OEM standards and production targets.
• Coach national trainers to acquire specialist skills.
• Create, review and maintain comprehensive training modules and plans for underground mine equipment.
• Manage the training calendar and matrix, monitor progress, and prepare regular training reports.
• Conduct skill‑gap analyses and design training plans to close identified gaps.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzania Labour Act, AGA and GGM HR policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience training underground mining personnel on drilling equipment.
• Strong knowledge of safety and OEM standards for underground drilling rigs.
• Ability to coach and mentor both operators and senior shift personnel.
• Familiarity with Tanzania labour regulations and internal HR training policies.
