Senior Tax Consultant – Head of Tax & Compliance

About the role

Our client, a leading player in the energy, petroleum, logistics and transportation sectors in Tanzania, is looking for an experienced Head of Tax & Compliance. The role will shape the company’s tax strategy, ensure regulatory compliance and manage tax‑related risks across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all tax matters, including VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, customs duties and statutory compliance.
• Manage tax audits, assessments, objections and engagements with regulatory authorities.
• Develop and implement tax planning and compliance strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Liaise with bodies such as TRA, EWURA, OSHA, BRELA, TPA to secure licences, permits and registrations.
• Conduct compliance reviews and strengthen governance frameworks.
• Advise senior management on tax, legal and regulatory implications of business decisions.
• Identify and mitigate tax, operational and compliance risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Law or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CPA (T), ACCA, CTA or equivalent.
• 8–10 years of experience in tax and compliance, with proven leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, regulatory frameworks and corporate governance.
