Senior Management Accountant – Large‑Scale Gold Mine

About the role

The Senior Management Accountant will lead management accounting, budgeting, cost control and financial performance analysis for a large‑scale gold mining operation. You will provide accurate, timely financial information to support operational decisions, drive cost efficiency and ensure compliance with Group policies and Tanzanian regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements, and produce detailed variance analysis with commentary.
• Lead the annual site budgeting process, coordinate inputs from all departments and maintain rolling forecasts for production costs, CAPEX, overheads and cash flow.
• Develop and maintain site‑level KPIs (cost per tonne, AISC, unit costs) and dashboards, consolidating operational and financial data for management insight.
• Oversee cost accounting for mining, processing, G&A and capital projects, implement cost‑control frameworks and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Provide financial evaluation of capital projects, maintain a capital register and support feasibility and optimisation studies.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, IFRS and Tanzanian statutory requirements, and support internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA (T), ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent).
• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience in management or cost accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior role, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control and project evaluation in a multi‑departmental environment.

Required skills

• Strong ERP experience (SAP, Pronto or similar).
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
