Finance Analyst (HEO) – Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Finance Analyst supports the stewardship of UK public funds across the British High Commission Tanzania's programme and operational budgets, reporting to the Head of Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Support financial planning, budgeting and forecasting for programme and operational budgets.
• Produce timely, accurate management information and analyse variances between budgets, forecasts and actual expenditure.
• Maintain financial data integrity through month‑end, year‑end processes, including journals, accruals, pre‑payments and budget transfers.
• Act as the first point of contact for routine finance queries and advise budget holders and programme teams.

Required profile

• Experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting, accounting or ODA‑funded activity.
• Understanding of accounting principles such as accruals, pre‑payments, journals and variance analysis.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and good written and verbal communication.
• Working towards a recognised professional finance qualification (CCAB, CIMA or equivalent).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of core accounting principles (accruals, pre‑payments, journal entries).
