Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer

About the role

Kakute Projects is looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer to support the EXPLORE project, an 18‑month initiative that strengthens community‑based renewable energy markets through local innovation hubs. The role is based in Arusha, Tanzania, with regular travel to project hubs in Arusha and Manyara.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the EXPLORE MEL framework, indicator tracker and data collection tools.
• Coordinate baseline data collection across eight project hubs and track progress against targets such as hubs activated, SMEs engaged, households reached, and financing linkages.
• Compile monthly and quarterly monitoring updates, ensure data is stored, cleaned and backed up.
• Support Project Officers and hub focal persons in accurate data collection; conduct field visits to verify activities and prevent double counting.
• Organise quarterly learning reflection sessions, document lessons, and prepare 4–6 case studies.
• Provide data, evidence and analysis for donor reports, mid‑term and final learning insights, and maintain audit‑ready MEL records.
• Contribute to strengthening Kakute’s organisational MEL system, improving tools, reporting practices and internal learning processes.

Required profile

• Willingness to work on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract.
• Ability to travel regularly to project hubs in Arusha and Manyara.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning for development projects.
