Mechanical Fitter

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to support the maintenance of gold plant equipment. You will work on daily inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance while upholding the company’s safety and sustainability values.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, health, safety and environmental policies.
• Perform daily inspection, maintenance and execution of plant equipment.
• Maintain and store mechanical tools and equipment according to safety standards.
• Troubleshoot process plant equipment and resolve engineering problems.
• Select, replace and inspect parts and components per specifications.
• Plan work in detail, including sequencing, prioritising and capacity considerations.
• Conduct weekly reviews of planned vs. actual work and complete accurate handovers.
• Maintain required logbooks for daily, weekly and monthly inspections.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and follow preventive maintenance schedules.
• Follow standard operating procedures for isolation, lockout, confined space, working at height, lifting and rigging.

Required profile

• Relevant trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a recognised Technician Certificate.
• Technical/Vocational school, apprenticeship or on‑the‑job training (FTC, VETA, IMTT Trade Test or equivalent).
• Mechanical Trade Certification highly desired.
• Minimum 3 years post‑trade experience as an artisan in mechanical fitting, preferably on gold plant equipment.

• Isolation, lockout, confined space entry, working at height, lifting and rigging procedures.
• Accurate documentation and logbook maintenance.
