Cable Bolter Trainer

About the role

The Barrick North Mara Team is looking for an experienced Cable Bolter Trainer to develop local talent in underground cable bolting operations. You will play a key part in maintaining safety standards while delivering high‑quality ground support.

Key responsibilities

• Train local personnel to operate cable bolters to high standards.
• Support the company’s zero‑harm safety culture by following all health, safety and legislative requirements.
• Drill ground‑support holes, install cable, and grout according to mine specifications.
• Ensure drilling accuracy, adhering to geotechnical plans and avoiding over‑ or under‑drilling.
• Prepare and maintain end‑of‑shift reports and perform visual equipment inspections.
• Operate equipment in line with standard operating procedures to meet daily bolting targets.
• Maintain housekeeping of equipment and work areas.

Required profile

• Tertiary or secondary education with a valid driving licence.
• Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of practical experience operating a cable bolter in an underground mine.
• Strong knowledge of underground drilling, ground‑support standards and mining legislation.
• Ability to read and interpret cable‑bolt layouts.
