Mechanic – Tradesperson 1 (Mining Equipment)

About the role

The Tradesperson 1 – Mechanic will carry out all assigned maintenance tasks on mining equipment at the Geita Gold Mine in Tanzania. The role focuses on safety, quality and timely release of equipment back to the mining operation team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform work safely in line with GGM safety standards and approved procedures.
• Inspect equipment, document defects and submit findings to the supervisor.
• Execute planned and unplanned maintenance on Norment, CAT, RH and other heavy‑equipment units.
• Repair equipment, report completion and ensure proper housekeeping.
• Report any unsafe equipment immediately.
• Maintain OEM standards and continuously improve work quality.
• Plan work before execution and meet delivery deadlines.

Required profile

• Form Four secondary education with VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One or Trade Test Level Three in Mechanic.
• Diploma or Full Technician Certificate in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• Valid Tanzania driving licence and no criminal record.
• Minimum 2 years experience maintaining Norment and Caterpillar equipment.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret equipment maintenance manuals.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining Norment machines, CAT777D, CAT777E, CAT785C, CAT785D trucks, RH 40, RH 170 and CAT640 excavators.
