Human Resource Officer - Transport

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is hiring a Human Resource Officer for its Mtwara plant in Tanzania, covering the transport function. The officer provides first-line support on HR issues and processes for the assigned function and acts as the main point of contact for HR enquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for HR-related enquiries and interpret and administer HR documents such as employment and promotion letters.
• Collect information on scheduled trainings and monitor attendance.
• Receive, collate and process employee requests for annual leave and other requests, and help coordinate their approval.
• Keep the HR database up to date: request bio-data updates, record changes to vacation, training, promotions and exits, and check for discrepancies.
• Manage employee communication and feedback through meetings, surveys, newsletters, focus groups and one-on-one meetings.
• Circulate policy manuals and clarify them where needed.
• Investigate non-compliance and complaints, escalate them to the Head of HAM & Admin, and take part in disciplinary processes.
• Manage the unit's budget and get expenditure approval according to the manual of authority.
• Submit periodic HR activity reports and share information with other HR department heads.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a humanities or social sciences discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience, including about two years in a supervisory role.
• Understanding of trends, regulations and labour legislation in the country of operation, and of the cement manufacturing industry.
• Ability to work with individuals in a multi-cultural environment with varying literacy levels.

Required skills

• Knowledge of techniques for office-wide communication and change programmes.
• Working knowledge of relevant ERP and office support applications.
• Excellent administration, problem-solving, leadership, communication and business writing skills.
