Hotel Housekeeper (Team Lead)

About the role

Career Directions Limited is recruiting on behalf of its client, a family-owned 40-room hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The hotel seeks an experienced Housekeeper to lead the housekeeping function, keeping rooms and public areas clean, hygienic and well presented, while training staff and ensuring an excellent guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department.
• Ensure guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities meet high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
• Supervise, train, schedule and motivate housekeeping staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms and public areas.
• Monitor housekeeping supplies, linen, amenities and inventory.
• Coordinate with Front Office and Maintenance so rooms are ready for guests.
• Set and maintain housekeeping procedures, checklists and quality standards.
• Address guest feedback and housekeeping concerns promptly.
• Monitor departmental costs and minimise wastage.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Prepare housekeeping reports and share operational issues with management.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in housekeeping within established hotels or resorts.
• Previous experience supervising or managing a housekeeping team.
• Valid Kenyan passport and willingness to relocate to Dar es Salaam.
