Head of Sales / Commercial Director

About the role

An agriculture company is looking for a Head of Sales / Commercial Director to lead its commercial development and drive sustainable sales growth in feed products and feed additives for poultry, swine and cattle. The role focuses on expanding market share in Tanzania by building its own retail outlets, strengthening distribution networks and managing strategic key accounts. The position is based in Dar es Salaam.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall commercial strategy for Tanzania to grow revenue and market share.
• Expand geographic coverage by identifying new markets, regions and customer segments in the livestock sector.
• Build, manage and optimise the company's own retail shop network.
• Establish and scale nationwide distribution partnerships.
• Lead and monitor the sales team through targets, structured processes and reporting and forecasting.
• Conduct direct sales and maintain relationships with large farms, integrators and corporate customers.
• Track sales performance, analyse market data and take corrective action.
• Monitor accounts receivable, manage credit exposure and run credit and collection strategies.
• Ensure healthy cash flow and work with operations and supply chain to guarantee product availability and timely delivery.

Required profile

• Degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in direct sales with proven commercial leadership; experience in feed, veterinary products or agriculture is highly preferred.
• Proven track record of sales growth and of building retail networks and distribution channels.
• Strong knowledge of the livestock sector and feed market in Tanzania.
• High level of mobility and willingness to travel frequently across the country.
