Head of Finance / Office

About the role

A well-established clearing and forwarding company with over 30 years of operations is looking for a Head of Finance/Office to lead its financial and administrative functions. The role covers financial planning, budgeting, statutory compliance, cash flow management and internal controls, as well as office operations and team coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, and monitor and improve financial controls and risk management
• Lead cash flow management, working capital optimization and cost control
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
• Manage relationships with banks, auditors, tax authorities and financial institutions
• Build, manage and mentor a lean finance team, including quarterly performance reviews
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian statutory reporting (PAYE, SDL, NSSF, WCF, withholding tax, provisional tax, VAT)
• Coordinate debtor management and follow up on outstanding payments
• Handle payroll processing and HR-related duties, reporting to the Group HR Head in India
• Communicate with the General Manager and with suppliers, buyers and other stakeholders by phone, WhatsApp and email

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field; CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalent preferred
• Prior experience in logistics, clearing and forwarding or trucking is a strong advantage
• Proven track record in finance operations, statutory compliance, payroll and financial reporting
• Experience coordinating with auditors, tax authorities and financial institutions
• Ability to work independently, under pressure and with tight deadlines

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Outlook and Word
• ERP and accounting software experience
• Financial modeling and analytical skills
