Assistant Manager - Audit

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is hiring an Assistant Manager - Audit in Dar es Salaam. The purpose of the role is to ensure adherence and enforcement of the firm's audit policies and procedures in a professional manner and to provide leadership to all the assigned audit staff. The position is full time.

Key responsibilities

• Audit management: take part in audit scheduling and staff allocation, approve audit-planning memoranda with managers, monitor allocated jobs against time frames and budgets, and check that financial statements meet quality standards.
• Client liaison: liaise with the tax department so tax returns and payments are made on time, with the secretarial department so board minutes, resolutions and annual returns are filed on time, and build good relationships with clients.
• Reporting: submit regular reports to partners on overdue or delayed audits and jobs not yet started.
• Team leadership: manage and oversee junior team members including interns, help recruit and interview them, train associates on procedures, and approve annual and study leave with the audit partner.
• Support partners: assist in billing and collection, in budget planning and control, and in job and annual evaluations of the audit team.
• Other duties: contribute to practice development and department business growth, and perform any other duties assigned.
