Head of Field Office – Kasulu (Tanzania)

About the role

The Head of Field Office in Kasulu will lead WFP’s operations in the Kigoma region, overseeing food assistance, nutrition services and resilience programmes for approximately 90,000 refugees and host‑community members. Reporting to the Country Office, the incumbent will ensure effective delivery of humanitarian assistance while fostering partnerships with government, NGOs and local market actors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the Kasulu Sub‑Office.
• Manage the delivery of food assistance, nutrition interventions and livelihood activities for refugees and host communities.
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting and resource mobilisation in line with WFP policies.
• Coordinate with national and regional authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and private sector partners.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, ensuring staff performance, safety and professional development.
• Monitor and evaluate programme impact, preparing regular reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing large‑scale humanitarian programmes, preferably in refugee contexts.
• Strong knowledge of food security, nutrition and resilience‑building interventions.
• Demonstrated ability to work in Tanzania and to engage with government and local stakeholders.
• Excellent leadership, communication and analytical skills.
