About the role
Join a team that measures what matters. As a Field Metrologist you will travel to client facilities and work in‑shop to perform high‑precision measurement and alignment projects across multiple industries.
Key responsibilities
- Perform on‑site and in‑shop measurements using laser trackers and portable arm systems.
- Create inspection plans and part coordinate frames, often without complete CAD models.
- Produce professional inspection reports with photos, tables and technical explanations.
- Organise, pack and maintain metrology equipment for field projects.
- Document daily progress, photo evidence and file management according to company standards.
- Collaborate with field machinists to adjust processes and explain geometric alignment concepts.
- Execute portable machine and equipment alignments, support surveys and diagnostics.
Required profile
- High school diploma or GED; a 2‑year technical degree or documented on‑the‑job training is preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience using portable metrology equipment.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and ability to read mechanical drawings/blueprints.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in industrial field environments.
