Production Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead end‑to‑end blending, filling/packaging and dispatch of lubricants for a client in Tanzania. The role ensures safe, compliant, on‑spec production while meeting cost and OTIF targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan daily/weekly blending and filling schedules against demand; manage tank farm and base oil/additive reconciliation.
• Lead EHS initiatives (PTW/LOTO), 5S, toolbox talks and near‑miss reporting to foster a zero‑harm culture.
• Ensure in‑process and finished‑goods quality gates with the lab; handle NCRs, CAPA and customer complaints.
• Improve throughput, yield and OEE; minimise changeovers and flush losses using SMED principles.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, spares and utilities uptime with Engineering.
• Implement and enforce SOPs, batch records and line clearance; train and certify operators.
• Control inventories of base oils, additives and packaging to prevent contamination and mix‑ups.
• Prepare daily/weekly MIS and support ISO 9001/14001/45001 and customer audits.
• Support new product introductions, treat‑rate trials, pilot blends and ramp‑up plans.

Required profile

• BSc/BEng in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• 6–10 years experience in lubricants blending/packaging or related process manufacturing, with at least 3 years leading shifts or lines.
• Hands‑on experience with blending kettles, tank farm operations, flexitank/IBC off‑loading and filling/labeling lines.
• Working knowledge of API, SAE and ACEA specifications and best practices for line changeover and flushing.

Required skills

• Production planning, OEE, SMED, root‑cause analysis (5‑Why/Fishbone).
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems such as SAP or Odoo.
• Technical operation of blending kettles, tank farms, flexitank/IBC handling and filling/labeling equipment.
