Country Representative Tanzania

About the role

WeWorld is seeking a Country Representative to lead its operations in Tanzania. Based in Dar es Salaam, the role reports directly to the Head of the Regional Unit and is responsible for overseeing program implementation, partnership management, and donor relations across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all WeWorld programmes in Tanzania, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and the 2030 Agenda.
• Manage relationships with local NGOs, authorities, and network partners such as TENMET.
• Oversee multisectoral school‑centered projects covering education, health, nutrition, protection and WASH, reaching approximately 25,000 beneficiaries.
• Coordinate donor reporting and compliance for major funders including AICS, DG ECHO, UNICEF, OCHA and DGD.
• Lead staff recruitment, performance management and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Represent WeWorld in public forums, advocacy events and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing international development or humanitarian programmes, preferably in Tanzania.
• Strong understanding of multisectoral approaches to child protection, education and health.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with government, NGOs and donors.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and lead diverse teams.

Required skills

• Project management and monitoring tools.
• Budget planning and financial reporting.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.
