Chief Commercial Officer

About the role

Stratostaff East Africa is looking for an experienced, results-oriented Chief Commercial Officer to lead its commercial operations and drive strategic growth. The CCO oversees Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Customer Experience, works closely with the CEO and the executive team, and is based in Dar es Salaam with nationwide responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the execution of the company's commercial strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Oversee revenue-generating functions including Retail, Corporate, Bancassurance and alternative distribution channels.
• Drive product innovation tailored to different market segments.
• Design and implement sales and marketing strategies to grow customer acquisition and retention.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives that improve customer engagement and market reach.
• Build partnerships with banks, brokers, agents and corporate clients to expand distribution.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams on product development and market positioning.
• Ensure performance targets are met and contribute to overall profitability.
• Mentor and develop sales and marketing teams across regions.
• Monitor market trends, customer feedback and competitor activity.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of progressive commercial leadership experience in life insurance or financial services.
• Proven track record leading sales, marketing and business development units and driving revenue and customer growth.
• At least 5 years managing distribution networks across multiple locations.
• Associate Diploma from ACII (UK), III (India) or LOMA (USA); an MBA or Master's in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or Strategy is highly desirable; a recognised university degree is an added advantage.
