Chief Business Officer (CBO) - Aviation

About the role

A start-up aviation company in Tanzania, represented by Stratostaff East Africa, is looking for a strategic and results-oriented Chief Business Officer (CBO). Reporting to the CEO, the CBO shapes business operations, drives growth and leads the sales department to maximise revenue. The role acts as a close partner to the CEO, supporting key decisions so that operations, market expansion and sales align with the company's long-term vision.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee business strategies and identify new growth opportunities locally and internationally
• Lead the sales department, set targets, formulate competitive strategies and monitor performance metrics
• Support the CEO with day-to-day management and high-level decision-making
• Coordinate with departments to optimise operations and implement best practices for efficiency and safety
• Track KPIs with the CEO and run corrective actions
• Work with finance, marketing, operations and legal teams
• Prepare reports and presentations for board meetings and investor engagements
• Drive market expansion, service offerings and strategic partnerships

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management or a related field (MBA preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, operations and executive support within the aviation industry
• Strong leadership, operational and decision-making skills focused on business growth
• Ability to work strategically with senior leadership and external partners
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
