Business Development Manager - Clearing, Forwarding & CFS

About the role

Career Directions Limited is recruiting, on behalf of its client, an experienced Business Development Manager for a Clearing & Forwarding and Container Freight Station (CFS) business based in Dar es Salaam. It is a strategic, client-facing B2B role for a commercially driven professional who can grow new business, strengthen key client relationships and expand market presence across East and Central Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, develop and secure new B2B business opportunities in the Clearing & Forwarding and CFS sector.
• Build and maintain relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, importers, exporters and corporate clients.
• Develop and execute business development strategies to meet revenue and market growth targets.
• Generate and manage a sales pipeline with timely follow-up on opportunities.
• Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate contracts and close deals.
• Conduct market research on industry trends, competitors and emerging opportunities.
• Represent the organisation at industry events, networking forums and client meetings.
• Work with operations teams to ensure good service delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates and performance reports to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• 10-15 years of experience in Clearing and Forwarding, with significant B2B business development exposure.
• Proven track record of winning new business and managing strategic client accounts.
• Strong understanding of CFS operations, customs clearance, freight forwarding and logistics services.
• Extensive professional network in the logistics, shipping and freight forwarding industry.
• Fluent English and Swahili; professional working proficiency in French.
