UG Development Manager

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for an experienced UG Development Manager to lead underground development activities. You will be responsible for directing teams, ensuring safety, and delivering projects that support the mine’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Direct, coach and motivate underground development teams including supervisors, engineers and other personnel.
• Oversee planning, design and execution of shaft sinking, tunnel excavation and related infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards and industry best practices.
• Manage project budgets, monitor costs and implement cost‑saving measures.
• Track project progress, prepare regular reports and analyse performance for improvement.
• Collaborate with mine planning, operations and engineering departments to align objectives.
• Identify and drive process improvements and innovations to boost safety, efficiency and productivity.

Required profile

• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Well‑developed oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultures and levels.
• At least ten years of experience in underground development management.
• Experience across multiple mining regions and methodologies.
• Knowledge of reading and interpreting mining plans and specifications.
