Transport Logistics Coordinator

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a disciplined and experienced Transport / Logistics Coordinator to support the daily operations of its fleet, focusing on efficient transport management of Sino/Howo trucks across Tanzania and East Africa. The role reports directly to the Fleet Manager and suits someone with a military or police background who can lead driver schedules while upholding strict safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily fleet operations and report to the Fleet Manager.
• Prepare and manage daily truck availability, scheduling and delivery sheets.
• Submit daily progress reports including waybills, delivery notes and invoices.
• Ensure strict adherence to SOPs, including authorization protocols for truck movement.
• Develop and manage work schedules for all drivers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Conduct lock box meetings with drivers to enforce safety protocols and maintain discipline.
• Monitor all truck routes using GPS tracking systems and support emergency route planning and rerouting.
• Maintain clear communication with drivers and management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution, preferably in Logistics, Transport Management or a related field.
• 5-8 years of proven experience managing Sino/Howo trucks.
• Ex-military or ex-police background.
• Relevant industrial certifications are an added advantage.
• Reference letters from previous employers must be presented.
• Physically and mentally fit, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of route mapping in Tanzania and East Africa.
• Proficiency in GPS tracking and vehicle scheduling systems.
• Excellent English (verbal and written).
• Computer literacy with MS Office and fleet management software.
• Leadership, organization, integrity, detail orientation and analytical skills.
