Senior Research Manager / Research Director (Tanzania)

About the role

Imagine Worldwide Tanzania is seeking a senior research professional to lead and manage a multi‑method research portfolio that supports the scaling of its tablet‑based literacy program. The role combines research expertise, project management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure high‑quality evidence for program improvement and government decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee implementation of baseline and endline learning assessments, stakeholder surveys, and ongoing implementation research across Tanzania.
• Manage contracts, budgets, timelines, and ethics applications with in‑country research partners.
• Coordinate research schedules with the Tanzania country team and government representatives, ensuring timely delivery of findings.
• Liaise with government stakeholders to provide evidence, respond to queries, and support continued engagement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (PhD preferred) with at least 5 years of relevant research experience, including project management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage research contracts, budgets, and multi‑partner collaborations.
• Strong communication skills for reporting to internal teams and external government partners.

• Quantitative research methodologies (e.g., surveys, impact evaluation).
• Qualitative research methodologies (e.g., interviews, focus groups).
• Project management, including contract and budget oversight.
