Senior Mining Engineer

About the role

The Barrick Africa Middle East Team is looking for a Senior Mining Engineer to lead the design, planning and execution of underground mining operations. You will champion safety, drive cost‑effective solutions and mentor junior engineers while upholding Barrick’s core values.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible safety leadership, conduct safety interactions and report hazards and incidents.
• Lead a team of mining engineers to produce integrated mine plans, life‑of‑mine scheduling, cost modelling and reserve compilation.
• Oversee drill‑and‑blast design, analysis and quality control, coordinating with geology, geotechnical and survey teams.
• Manage operating and capital budgets, perform monthly cost analysis, KPI tracking and financial reporting.
• Supervise junior engineers, deliver training, and support continuous improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Collaborate with mineral resource, open‑pit and processing departments to align technical deliverables with overall business goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Mineral Engineering.
• Significant experience in underground mining design and operations.
• Project‑management experience or qualification.
• Proven leadership and team‑development capabilities.
