Sales and Operations Executive

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited, operating in the logistics and freight industry, is looking for a Sales and Operations Executive to drive new business while supporting the core operations of the business. The role covers acquiring high-value clients, managing key accounts, improving operational efficiency and contributing to cost reduction. It starts with a remote working period until the office is set up.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect and acquire new high-value clients for air freight, sea freight and logistics services
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and new clients
• Support day-to-day operations so that service delivery runs smoothly
• Identify and implement ways to improve efficiency and cut operational costs
• Understand the company's services, including import and export of specialized cargo such as spare parts and aircraft parts
• Coordinate internally across departments to support sales and operations
• Prepare sales proposals, quotations and service agreements and follow them through to deal closure
• Monitor industry trends and competitors to spot new opportunities
• Provide after-sales support and ensure client satisfaction
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and company policies, and accurate billing

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Sales, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain or a related field
• Proven experience in a sales and/or operations role, preferably in logistics and freight
• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
• Commercially driven, able to acquire and retain high-value clients
• Understanding of freight operations, including import and export, is an advantage
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines
• Self-motivated and results-oriented

• Relevant operational or CRM tools
• Ability to attend and manage virtual meetings during the initial remote period
