Research Scientist (2 positions) – Dar es Salaam

About the role

The Ifakara Health Institute is hiring two Research Scientists to join its Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) East Africa Node in Dar es Salaam. The role supports core researchers, strengthens data‑science capacity, and leads the development and deployment of analytical models for malaria research.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with MAP East Africa Node team to assist core researchers on data‑driven projects.
• Design, implement, and validate analytical and statistical models.
• Prepare and curate input datasets, develop reproducible workflows, and deploy models in production environments.
• Disseminate findings through reports, peer‑reviewed manuscripts, conference posters, and presentations.
• Lead individual research projects from conception to delivery.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, data/computer science, engineering, public health, epidemiology, ecology, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong quantitative and analytical capacity.
• Experience working in health‑related research or disease modelling is desirable.
