Programme Analyst – Maternal Health (Dar es Salaam)

About the role

The Programme Analyst, Maternal Health, will work from the UNFPA Tanzania Country Office in Dar es Salaam, reporting to the SRHR Coordinator. The role provides technical, programmatic and operational support to ensure effective design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of maternal health initiatives, including midwifery models of care.

Key responsibilities

• Support development, design and management of the maternal health portfolio, including strengthening midwifery programmes.
• Monitor programme performance against targets, convene review meetings and address operational bottlenecks.
• Oversee budget allocation, monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with UNFPA financial policies.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to establish monitoring benchmarks and performance indicators.
• Provide technical support for advocacy, policy review and representation in technical working groups.
• Draft concept notes, funding proposals and communication materials to mobilize resources and raise awareness.

Required profile

• Master’s or advanced degree in public health, medicine, health policy, or related social science disciplines.
• Minimum of 2 years progressive professional experience in sexual and reproductive health, maternal health or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government ministries, UN agencies, NGOs and academic institutions.
• Experience in results‑based planning, monitoring and evaluation, and financial management of donor‑funded programmes.
