National Nutrition Consultant – Multisectoral Strategy (Remote, Travel)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a National Nutrition Consultant to lead the development of a five‑year costed Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy and Response Plan for the Kigoma region. The role is remote with required travel to Kigoma for stakeholder engagement and field validation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare an inception report outlining methodology, workplan, data needs and timeline.
• Review national, regional and district policies and program documents across nutrition, health, food systems, WASH, education, social protection and community development.
• Conduct a comprehensive nutrition situation analysis for Kigoma, identifying outcomes, determinants, service gaps, vulnerable groups and emerging risks.
• Perform problem and causality analysis to pinpoint immediate, underlying and structural drivers of malnutrition.
• Facilitate consultations with regional, district and community stakeholders, development partners, civil society and refugee‑response actors.
• Develop a multisectoral Nutrition Theory of Change and draft a costed five‑year strategy, including priorities, interventions, coordination mechanisms and financing considerations.
• Produce a costed response plan and results framework with clear outputs, activities, indicators and targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in nutrition programming, policy analysis and multisectoral coordination.
• Strong analytical skills to assess nutrition determinants and design evidence‑based strategies.
• Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing travel to the field.
