MEAL Officer – Zanzibar (National)

About the role

The MEAL Officer will support and implement the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system across multiple projects in Zanzibar. Reporting to the Country Office MEAL Coordinator and working closely with project managers, the officer ensures high‑quality data collection, analysis, learning and accountability mechanisms aligned with Save the Children’s MEAL framework.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain MEAL tools and processes for assigned projects.
• Collect, clean, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data to inform program decisions.
• Produce regular monitoring reports, evaluation findings and learning briefs.
• Facilitate accountability mechanisms, including feedback loops with beneficiaries.
• Support project managers in evidence‑based planning and adaptive management.
• Contribute to country‑wide MEAL initiatives and donor reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, development studies, statistics or a related field.
• Experience in monitoring, evaluation, or data management within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
