IT Officer

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited is looking for a proactive, technically skilled IT Officer in Dar es Salaam to manage and maintain the organisation's IT infrastructure, network systems and security technologies. The role ensures continuous system availability, protects company data, supports users and keeps surveillance and attendance systems running. It suits a hands-on person who can handle several IT functions in a fast-paced operational setting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor IT infrastructure, including servers, networks and end-user devices
• Ensure server performance, system security and regular data backups
• Monitor network performance and keep internet connectivity stable, liaising with service providers on issues
• Oversee CCTV and surveillance systems, including footage monitoring and storage
• Manage biometric attendance systems so they remain accurate and reliable
• Keep UPS and generator power backup systems functional and tested
• Respond promptly to incidents, failures or breaches and keep incident logs
• Implement and maintain IT security measures and access controls
• Provide technical support to staff and minimise downtime across departments
• Monitor security operations and yard activities via CCTV and report irregularities to management

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• Proven experience in IT infrastructure, networking and system administration
• Hands-on experience with CCTV systems, biometric devices and server management
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good understanding of network security and data protection practices
• Ability to respond quickly to incidents and ensure business continuity
• Strong communication skills and ability to support end users
