Geotechnical Superintendent

About the role

The Geotechnical Superintendent will lead the North Mara geotechnical discipline, overseeing site‑based teams and consultants to ensure safe and efficient mine planning. This senior position is responsible for integrating geotechnical inputs into open‑pit and underground mining designs while protecting the operation from geotechnical hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical input for open‑pit and underground mine planning.
• Maintain and update the Ground Control Management Plan, TARPS, and ground support standards.
• Manage the geotechnical budget, headcount, and equipment procurement in collaboration with the regional Geotechnical Manager.
• Lead the Geotechnical Team and coordinate with all site functions to implement ground control standards.
• Design and evaluate stope, slope, and pillar stability, including support systems and monitoring.
• Maintain 3D block models, Life‑of‑Mine stress models, and hydrogeological monitoring systems.
• Conduct bore stability, backfill exposure, and seismic risk analyses.
• Train junior geotechnical engineers and ensure data quality and compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading geotechnical teams in mining environments.
• Strong understanding of ground control, rock mechanics, and mine safety standards.
• Ability to manage budgets, procurement, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
