Geologist

About the role

We are looking for a Geologist to join the Barrick Africa Middle East Team, supporting safe and efficient mining operations. The role involves interpreting geological data, managing ore models, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead health, safety and environmental compliance for geological activities, supervising staff, contractors and partners.
• Perform 3D interpretation of geological data, create sections, flitches, maps, solid and block models, and distribute outputs to mine planning and operations teams.
• Prepare drill pads, conduct flitch analysis, risk assessments and ensure drill‑site readiness.
• Manage ore polygon creation, update digital geological databases (DGD) and monitor ore movement using OrePro/BMT systems.
• Implement and monitor sample and assay quality control, following QA/QC protocols and ensuring timely laboratory dispatch.
• Collect and integrate lithological, structural and geotechnical data into models, controlling dilution and supporting grade‑control programs.
• Participate in business planning, liaise with metallurgists, surveyors, geotechnical and operations teams to optimise production.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in mining geology and data management.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations in a mining environment.
• Ability to lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
• Excellent communication skills and a results‑driven mindset.
