Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead all accounting, statutory compliance, financial reporting, payroll, inventory accounting and internal control functions for LifeDX Africa in Tanzania. This hands‑on position requires independent organization of accounting processes for a growing manufacturing, assembly and distribution business.

Key responsibilities

• Full accounting and bookkeeping for the Tanzanian entity, including monthly closing and management reporting.
• Control of primary documents, invoices, payments, bank reconciliations and cash‑flow records.
• Payroll accounting and statutory deductions.
• Tax compliance: VAT, PAYE, SDL/PSDL, NSSF, WCF and other Tanzanian obligations.
• Liaison with TRA, banks, auditors, consultants and other authorities.
• Preparation for audits and support during external audits.
• Inventory and stock accounting, including finished goods, raw materials, write‑offs and stock movements.
• Cost accounting for manufacturing operations.
• Support budgeting, budget control and financial planning.
• Implementation and daily use of ERP systems, preferably Odoo.
• Internal control over payments, expenses, procurement documentation and financial discipline.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification – CPA(T), ACCA or equivalent.
• NBAA registration or active status (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of accounting/finance experience, preferably as Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant or Finance Manager.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax compliance, TRA procedures and statutory reporting.
• Good knowledge of IFRS and preparation of financial statements.
• Experience in manufacturing, medical devices, pharma, FMCG, import/distribution or other regulated sectors.
• Fluent in English and Swahili.
