Boilermaker

About the role

The Boilermaker will join Barrick's Africa Middle East team to maintain, repair and fabricate metal structures and equipment across the plant. This role ensures safe, reliable operation of mechanical assets while upholding Barrick's health, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Fabricate, weld, and install chutes, pipes, reducers, bends, Y‑pieces and other steel structures.
• Read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine materials and time frames.
• Conduct task risk assessments (JHA, FLRA) and follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Maintain mechanical tools and equipment according to safety standards.
• Assess welded surfaces and pressure vessels for defects and carry out repairs.
• Apply 5S principles to keep the work area clean and environmentally safe.
• Maintain relevant licences such as basic rigging, working at heights and forklift operation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in metal fabrication and welding within an industrial setting.
• Ability to read technical drawings and follow safety procedures.
• Commitment to zero‑harm safety culture and regulatory compliance.
• Willingness to work onsite in a plant environment.
