Airport Travel Consultant

About the role

A client of Shugulika Africa Limited in the travel and tourism industry is looking for a Travel Consultant to work at the airport desk in Dar es Salaam. The consultant provides immediate travel assistance to customers, including last-minute flight bookings, disruption handling and destination information, under time-sensitive conditions. The ideal candidate is quick-thinking, calm under pressure and has strong interpersonal and technical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist walk-in clients at the airport desk with flight bookings, hotel reservations, lounge access and other travel services.
• Respond to urgent needs such as flight delays, cancellations or rebooking with prompt solutions.
• Provide accurate, up-to-date travel information, including schedules, pricing and destination advice.
• Manage and resolve booking discrepancies and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Promote and upsell travel products, packages and additional services.
• Coordinate with airline partners, hotels and internal support teams.
• Maintain accurate transaction records and prepare documentation for bookings and changes.
• Follow up and provide after-service support when needed.
• Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays, in line with airport operations.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Travel & Tourism, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field.
• Proven experience as a travel consultant, preferably in an airport or high-pressure setting.
• Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability and calm, professional handling of unexpected disruptions.
• Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to promote and close travel services.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to changing schedules.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Global Distribution Systems (GDS), with preference for Galileo.
• Proficiency in MS Office and booking systems.
• Presentable, well-organized and able to multitask under time constraints.
