Director of Housekeeping

About the role

Four Seasons Serengeti Lodge in Tanzania is looking for a Director of Housekeeping. The role combines leadership, customer service excellence, team development and business management within a high-end hospitality setting, overseeing guest rooms, suites, villas, public areas, laundry, linen and uniforms.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and ensure rooms are cleaned, inspected and ready according to Four Seasons standards and guest arrival schedules, with accurate room status updates coordinated with Front Office.
• Conduct daily inspections of cleanliness, room condition, presentation and functionality, and ensure timely turndown service, especially for guests on game drives.
• Maintain inventory of amenities, linen, cleaning materials and guest supplies, and keep housekeeping equipment safe and effective.
• Manage dust, insects and other environmental challenges in the Serengeti, coordinating with Engineering and approved pest-control providers, and protect wildlife and the environment.
• Lead the Housekeeping team with daily briefings, coach supervisors and managers, train staff on Four Seasons standards, handle performance issues fairly and build succession plans.
• Run efficient laundry operations for rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa and uniforms, monitor linen par levels and follow sustainable laundry practices.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts and financial reports, control cleaning supplies and amenities, plan purchases for the remote location and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Handle service recovery cases promptly and ensure service recovery meets luxury standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in luxury hotel housekeeping.
• At least 3-5 years in a senior housekeeping leadership role.
• Experience in luxury resorts, safari lodges or remote hospitality operations is highly desirable.
